Do you know what the Adaptive Front Lighting System Malfunction Indicator dashboard symbol looks like? Do you know what to do if you suddenly see a light pop on that looks like a steering wheel next to an exclamation point? If you drive a 2019 Kia Sedona, the folks here at Kia of Des Moines have compiled the following dashboard symbol information to help you become more prepared in the event any of them turn on during one of your regular Des Moines, West Des Moines, and Ankeny area drives.
The Electric Power Steering Warning Light symbol will either be a steering wheel next to an exclamation point or “EPS” in all capitals. When it lights up, it will be red. If you notice that it has turned on or is blinking, it means the steering system is malfunctioning and may have lost power. Be sure to take it in to our service center as soon as you can.
This dashboard symbol is also red. It consists of an exclamation point inside a circle with parentheses outside the circle. It will come on when the parking brake is applied. It will shut off once the parking brake is released. If this light is on when the parking brake is not being used, it could mean that you’re low on brake fluid. Have your Kia Sedona looked at by a technician immediately.
The Adaptive Front Lighting System is a handy Kia Sedona feature. It increases your field of vision when driving at night by pivoting the headlights when making your way through a turn. If there is a malfunction in the system, this yellow “AFLS” will either blink or turn on and stay on. If either occurs, you should get it checked out.
This dashboard symbol is yellow and made up of the image of a snowflake on a road. This one is activated when the temperature outside dips below 39.2°F and tells you that the road conditions may be icy.
When your Kia Sedona is running low on fuel, this yellow light in the shape of a gas pump will illuminate. Be sure to make your way to the nearest gas station when you see that it’s lit.
The Downhill Brake Control system slows you down when you’re driving down a steep hill so you’re able to concentrate on steering. When the feature is activated, this dashboard symbol that looks like a vehicle driving down a steep hill will be green. If there is an error in the system and it will not function, the light will be red.
