Sip, sample, and savor at the annual World Food & Music Festival, back again for another go this year. This festival has become a staple in downtown Des Moines, as many festival-goers have been able to enjoy culinary items from around the world.
There’s also great music, dance, and other activities, with a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere. Make sure you have this year’s festival on your calendar.
The festival is proudly produced each year by the Greater Des Moines Partnership. The cuisine, live music, and performing arts are accompanied by cooking demonstrations, wine, craft beers, and so much more. All vendors accept cash, and many also accept credit cards. There will be ATMs on-site at the festival for your convenience.

Visit the Meredith Culinary Discovery Pavilion to see local chefs show off their skills and offer samples of their creations. The Cultural Discovery Experience will offer a trip across the world with workshops and presentations joined by hands-on activities. Previous attendees have learned about Taiko Japanese drumming, Zen calligraphy, and taken part in world trivia.
Now that you know what to expect from the festival, we want to make sure you know all about the festival! First off, admission is free, thanks to the World Food & Music Festival sponsors. Hours are Friday and Saturday, September 14 and 15, from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM, and Sunday, September 16, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The festival takes place at Western Gateway Park, and there are numerous free and paid parking meters, lots, and garages available.
