Any Sorento set up with the optional AWD system also gets 8.2 inches of ground clearance, along with steadier pavement grip that the drivetrain supplies. All X-Line trims of this model come with Terrain Mode, which is an additional setting of the standard Drive Mode Select feature. Engage it by pressing on the dial located underneath the shift, then shift it to either Snow, Mud, or Sand modulations for what seems most appropriate at the moment. The LX and S versions come with a standard 2.5L 4-cylinder engine that makes 191 horsepower and 181lb.-ft. of torque, while anything above those trims are given a beefier 2.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder powertrain that is capable of making up to 281 horsepower and 311 lb.ft. of torque.
Safety
If you’re feeling daring enough to venture off to sites with some muddy pathways, the driver-assistance features of the 2026 Kia Sorento aim to get you there safe and sound. Lane Keeping Assist1 and Lane Following Assist2 are both standard features that make highway driving much less stressful, as they can interact with one another to prevent unintentional tailgating or drifting. Rather than craning your neck to see if you’re clear to switch positions on a major freeway, use the optional Blind-Spot View Monitor3 to take a look at the sides of the Sorento via live feeds on either side of the instrument panel before hastily making a move. To make sure you’re not driving too inattentively, the standard Driver Attention Warning4 system actively grades your alertness on a zero-to-five scale. If your focus causes the meter to drift towards the lower end, you’ll be prompted to take a small break from driving.
Technology
Because the 2026 Kia Sorento is such a family-oriented model, it’s crucial that we lead the technology section with the mention of its optional Wi-Fi Hotspot5. This subscription-based service allows smartphones, tablets, laptops, and similar devices to connect to the internet. With little to no latency when picking a song to listen to using the standard 12.3-inch touchscreen display6, it’ll be an incredibly rare occurrence that you experience buffering of any sort. Keep the infotainment up to date by using the standard Over-the-Air system updates7, which is akin to how you’d maintain your computer’s software. You won’t need to bring your Sorento to our location to do so or connect it anywhere to upgrade the system, as it’s done without cables.
