“ Edit: I want to clarify that my frustration lies with corporate Kia/Kia USA, not the local dealership or the employees there. Kia USA, please read this and hear this and listen to the people with their boots on the ground. There is nothing better you can do as a company. Overall, the process itself was not a four-star experience. However, the service that I received at the local dealership was. A huge thanks to the employees, my technician who put up with me through the entire process, and the service manager, Denny. Denny and his team do a great job at doing absolutely everything they can to help out their customers. In late November 2025, my car's engine displayed error message on the screen of my 2015 Kia Soul and the engine entered "safety mode" which meant that it wouldn't accelerate above 60mph or 2000rpm, making it difficult to drive the car on my work commute, not to mention with the snow that would be coming in winter. I took it to my local mechanic, who diagnosed the problem as an issue with a part of the engine, and said it was an active recall through Kia, and that he had already called the local Kia dealership with my information to get the recall and replacement taken care of. What was supposed to be a relatively short fix (maybe a few weeks) turned into months of back and forth between Kia USA and the local dealership/myself. I would pick it up with the Kia USA tech line saying something like "it was just a software update" and other, smaller fixes, that would temporarily work. But anywhere between a few hours--a few days later, the problem would arise again and I would bring it back. After the dealership fighting for my case for months, the engine replacement was finally approved, and I picked up my car and dropped off my last loaner vehicle in April 2026, and my engine runs great. There were a couple issues I noticed over time that were small but new, and their service manager reached out to me, listened to my concerns, and made us a plan to get those addressed! ”
